That Fang's formal name was Qiao and courtesy name was Xuanling was per the Old Book of Tang, vol. 66, although the New Book of Tang, vol. 96 asserted it was the reverse — that his formal name was Xuanling and courtesy name was Qiao. It was rare for a courtesy name to be only of one character.
