According to the school website, Mrs. Vaughn sustained third-degree burns over 65% of her body and her two-year-old daughter sustained third-degree burns over 95% of her body. Though initially neither were expected to live, both did. (Brenda Vaughn [1948-2013] eventually died of Hepatitis C contracted from a blood transfusion.)
