The suggestion that Hynde first married Eleanor daughter of Sir John Heydon of Baconsthorpe, Norfolk (see S.R. Johnson, 'Hynde, John (c.1480-1550)', History of Parliament) is difficult to reconcile with the fact that she was married to John Townshend (d. 1543/44), son and heir of Sir Roger Townshend of Raynham, Norfolk (see W. Rye (ed.), The Visitacion of Norffolk, etc Harleian Society Vol. XXXII (London 1891), pp. 290-92, from Harleian MS 1552. Not Eleanor but Elizabeth Heydon is named by J.H. Baker, 'Hynde, Sir John (c.1480–1550), judge', in Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. Elizabeth Heydon married Thomas Darcy of Tolleshunt, Essex.
