A prize honoring Kaneshige's contribution has been offered annually by the Chugoku branch, then East Chugoku branch, of the Japan Kōgei Association since 1968. It awards craftspeople of lacquerware, wood craft, weaving and dyeing, and pottery other than Bizen-yaki.
