  • Seth Rogovoy (20 April 2001). "Gary Lucas: Action guitarist". Berkshire Eagle. Archived from the original on 9 May 2008. Retrieved 20 May 2008. A knowing reference to Arnold Schoenberg's "Verklarte Nacht", the piece ironically juxtaposed the Israeli national anthem, "Hatikvah," with phrases from "Deutschland Uber Alles," amid wild electronic shrieks and noise. The next day the papers ran a picture of Lucas with the triumphant headline, "It is Lucas!"

  • Schmid, Harald (8 November 2002). "Sprachstreit im Novemberland". Der Freitag. Retrieved 3 November 2023. [As early as the tenth anniversary in 1948, the 'Emergency Community of Those Affected by the Nuremberg Laws' (an organisation of persecutees that is almost forgotten by the public today) criticized: 'Before this false word has become so commonplace that it can no longer be removed, we would like to point out the distortion associated with the use of this word. The word "Kristallnacht" was not invented and brought into common usage by those who were persecuted in the past.']

  • Sonneck, Gernot; Hirnsperger, Hans; Mundschütz, Reinhard (2012). "Suizid und Suizidprävention 1938-1945 in Wien [Suicide and suicide prevention in Vienna from 1938 to 1945]". Neuropsychiatrie (in German). 26 (3): 111–20. doi:10.1007/s40211-012-0032-8. PMID 23055305. In Vienna, the number of suicides also increased significantly until 1939: 1,358 suicides in 1938 (more than half of them by Jews); in 1939, there were significantly fewer with 1,045 suicides. These were suicide rates (number of suicides per 100,000) of 73 and 56 respectively - in comparison, in 2008 there were 189 suicides in Vienna, thus a suicide rate of 11.2 (Fig. 1). The suicide problem was very prevalent - alone on the "Reichskristallnacht" - 9/10. November 1938 - 680 Jews in Austria died by suicide.
