Kay Sigurjonsson asked, "Why should we trust you now? This electrified the crowd of women who throughout the evening had been strictly controlled because this was a televised event and any gasps, exclamations or other signs of disapproval from the audience were considered inappropriate for the CBC. The question startled the candidates, and each tried to outdo the other in assuring us that they were honest and trustworthy, but Sigurjonsson's point was made.
