Jan Burgerhuys Sr. is known to have been at work by 1593/4 but the foundry closed in 1679, so the date of the bell would seem to be 1596, not 1696 as assumed by Dalgetty and other writers. See Encyclopedia of Dutch bells and bell-foundrys.
