It includes the letters and proclamations, approximately 1000 in number, issued by the Mahdi from the outbreak of the revolution in 1881 to his death in 1885; his sermons and prayers; and legal rulings and teaching sessions. Al-Athar al-kamila is the fruit of several decades of collecting material and research by Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Salim, the leading scholar on the Mahdist Sudan.
