Part of a seven-volume annotated edition of the writings of Muhammad Ahmad b. 'Abd Allah (d. 1885), the Sudanese Mahdi. It includes the letters and proclamations, approximately 1000 in number, issued by the Mahdi from the outbreak of the revolution in 1881 to his death in 1885; his sermons and prayers; and legal rulings and teaching sessions. Al-Athar al-kamila is the fruit of several decades of collecting material and research by Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Abu Salim, the leading scholar on the Mahdist Sudan.
