The establishment of Möng Mao can differ based on interpretation. If Hkun Hpang Hkam [zh] becoming the ruler of Möng Mao is taken as the starting point, the date is 1256; if the establishment of Luchuan Route by the Yuan dynasty is taken as the starting point, the date is 1276; if the succession of Si Kefa is taken as the starting point, the date is 1335. If the legendary stories of its founding are taken as the starting point, dates such as 568, 835 and others could be suggested. If the tribal alliances hypothesized by historians are taken as the starting point, dates such as the 6th–7th centuries or the 10th–11th centuries are possible.
