Neutral Unit of Construction (NUC) The basis of air fare calculations established by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), replaced the Fare Construction Unit (FCU) on 1 July 1989. In the new system individual amounts in local currencies are converted to NUC by the use of NUC conversion factors, and the total NUC amount is converted back to the local currency of sale. The conversion factors are normally adjusted four times a year.
