  • There have been discussions in the past about his birthplace, since an inscription on the slab of his tomb in Mainz Cathedral mentions Trier as birthplace ("De Treveris natus"). The initial words of the inscription are: Anno milleno tricentoque viceno Petrum petra tegit tegat hunc qui tartara fregit. De Treveris natus, presul fuit hic trabeatus.
