Doch in letzter Minute entscheidet sich LEFAUCHEUX für die Fahrt mit dem Auto. Er wirft seinen Koffer auf den Rücksitz seiner Frégate. Als die Stadt Saint-Dizier in Sicht kommt, überrascht ihn ein Schild, das eine Umleitung anzeigt. PIERRE LEFAUCHEUX war auf der Stelle tot!
