The Egyptian Navy has awarded a $10.6m contract for unmanned undersea vehicles (UUV) to US-based technical services support company Columbia Group.
The system includes two Gayrobot Pluto Plus Mine Identification and Disposal ROV's equipped with underwater cameras.
The first four carry two Gayrobot Pluto Plus mine-detection and disposal vehicles, while later units carry Kongsberg Minesniper mine-disposal ROVs; an order for four additional ship-sets was placed in 2003.
