Salmoneili: David, I have say I'm enjoying the show, I am favouring the Cleon storyline. I did go back and rewatch S1 and am enjoying the other strands, and I do think there was a lot necessary groundwork last season, that probably frustrated book readers. I saw you wrote the possibility of expanding into the robot novels and Demerzel as well, would that also include some backstories/earlier Cleons as well? DavidGoyerFoundation: We will be expanding on Asimov's 3 laws. And Demerzel is Daneel. We can confirm that. areyoumarkinson: Oh wow. Last I read, that name in particular was not included in the rights that Apple had. DavidGoyerFoundation: The name WASN'T. But I made a personal appeal to [Lachlan Murdoch] the head of FOX, who is a fan of the show –– and they agreed to allow us to mention the name in a couple of specific instances.
DavidGoyerFoundation: Will we do anything more with tying Demerzel into the I, Robot laws? Yes, for sure. Keep watching this season. We've even discussed doing a spin-off mini-series that specifically delves into our version of "The Robot Wars". No idea if we'll ever get there or if Apple or the audience have the appetite for it. Depends on S2 reception and beyond. Maybe we do that – or maybe we try to incorporate that storyline within one of the seasonal arcs.
