In Yerushalmi Shabbat 10:6 he says that "in our place (באתרין) people call braiding 'building'", while according to Berachot 61a, "in overseas cities people call braiding 'building'". However, Breishit Rabbah 18a records Bannaah as saying "there are places", not "in our place", in which case nothing can be derived of his native place.
