Parretti was born in Castello di Signa (Firenze) in 1779. He became Archpriest of the cathedral of Florence. He obtained a doctorate in philosophy and theology from Florence (1827), and was named Bishop of Fiesole on 28 January 1828. He was transferred to the diocese of Pisa on 23 December 1839.
