That was where I met the Sigur Rós boys, in the smoking room. We used to sit around smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee and that's how we found out we had similar music tastes. We used to listen to records together – the first Verve album, A Storm in Heaven, and Spiritualized. Both were an influence but Spiritualized probably more so.
'I don't think we [had a vision for the band's sound],' says [Kjartan] Sveinsson, (...) 'It was never talked about. It was just developing something interesting. But at this time we were listening to [Spiritualized's] Lazer Guided Melodies, and Ride, and the first two Verve albums. That kind of stuff. I'm sure there is kind of a similarity. And Loveless, My Bloody Valentine.'
