Two-wheeled native cart of India, drawn by a pair of large ponies harnessed to a centre pole in a form of curricle gear. Passengers rode dos-a-dos (back to back) on a broad centre-seat, under a fringed top or canopy. The driver, next to the forward facing passenger, sounded a bugle or trumpet as a warning signal. The pole and body of the vehicle — when in draught — tilted in a rearward direction, feet of the rear passengers supported on a tailboard with letting-down chains
