Some have objected to applying the expression "triple cross" to this Warsaw square, mistakenly claiming that "triple cross" is a synonym for the "papal cross", a staff with three horizontal bars near the top. "Triple cross" simply means "three crosses", as illustrated in the following advertisement for a "triple cross square money clip": [1]. Similarly a "triple crown" is the winning of the three most important achievements in a given field.
