He was always known as "Tom" to his family (Main and Allen (2002), p.227). It seems that those from Fitzroy who had registering him with the VFL as "Tommy" in 1922 had confused him with Tom/Tommy Corrigan (1851–1894), the famous steeplechase jockey and horse trainer [1].
Unlike almost every other individual listed at List of Victorian Football League players who died on active service, Corrigan's "Service Record", which, amongst other things, would contain all of the details of the inquiry, has not yet been released to the public (as at 1 January 2012) [2].
