This study provides the first field experimental test of vote swapping. Third party supporters seeking swap partners on TrumpTraders.org were randomly assigned to be matched or not matched. In the control group, 25% report voting for Clinton compared with 57% in the treatment group, for an Average Treatment Effect estimate of 32 percentage points.
