This commission was based on Wei's biographies in the Old Book of Tang and the New Book of Tang. See Old Book of Tang, vol. 77 [1] and New Book of Tang, vol. 98.[2] However, this contradicts with Li Xian's biographies, which indicates that he was Prince of Pei from 661 to 672 and nominally commandant at Liang Prefecture from 672 to 675 (when he carried the title of Prince of Yong), thus making it impossible that he was both Prince of Pei and commandant at Liang Prefecture simultaneously.
