The original title of the track on the album is spelled as 一翦梅, which is the name of a ci-poetic tune pattern (詞牌; cípái). Later, the track was used as the theme song for the eponymous 1984 Taiwanese drama. Since the drama adopted the spelling 一剪梅 for its title, theme song title, and ci-poetic tune pattern title, the song became known as 一剪梅.
