The word "gas" first appears on page 58, where he mentions: "... Gas (meum scil. inventum) ..." (... gas (namely, my discovery) ...). On page 59, he states: "... in nominis egestate, halitum illum, Gas vocavi, non longe a Chao ..." (... in need of a name, I called this vapor "gas", not far from "chaos" ...)
