Jacob Tamarkin note à ce propos en 1936 dans le Bulletin of the AMS : « Quite recently, in 1935, there was founded in Poland a new important periodical, Acta Arithmetica, devoted to number theory! Thus Poland is a unique country supporting three highly specialized periodicals devoted to pure mathematics ». Il fait référence aux deux autres journaux mathématiques Fundamenta Mathematicae (fondée en 1920) et Studia Mathematica (fondée en 1929).
