For several reasons, in our diocese of Verdun, we have adopted the edition of Desclee with the rhytimical signs of the Bénédictines of Solesmes. This edition is in complete accordance with the typical edition, and approved as such, and is distinguished by rhythmical signs or marks which render its execution at once more easy, more exact, and more uniform. The trial which we have given this rhythmical edition in our Cathedral, in our seminaries, and in several of our parishes has been very satisfactory. In addition to the practical advantages we have just spoken of, this edition is a great help toward rapid progress in the teaching and training of choristers and singers. Lastly, thanks to the rhythmical signs, it helps children, whose attention is difficult to hold, to reach much quicker results than the traditional notation without rhythmical sings, ...»
