La traduction de l'acte de naissance est donnée dans Pazdro 1989, p. 17. L'acte de baptême est reproduit dans le blog d'Emmanuel Langavant. Il est rédigé en latin et indique que le prêtre a baptisé « Fredericum Franciscum » (lignes 3 et 4) fils « Nicolai Choppin Gali » (ligne 6), c'est-à-dire « de Nicolas Chopin ? Français ? ». Le mot « Gali » est mis, probablement, pour Galli, génitif de Gallus, « Gaulois », désignation latine possible d'un Français (avec Francus, « Franc »). L'acte d'état civil ne semble pas contenir de référence à l'origine nationale de Nicolas Chopin.
