Jérusalem, July 7 (JTA) — The funeral of Meyer Tobiansky, Haganah member who was mistakenly executed last year as a traitor, took place here today with full military honors. Sephardic Chief Rabbi Ben zion Usiel, who delivered the eulogy, and representatives of the Israeli Army high command, were among those who attended.
Tel Aviv (Aug. 23) — Isar Beeri, former Haganah intelligence chief, was charged today with manslaughter in the execution of Meir Tobiansky, Haganah officer whose execution by a court-martial in Jerusalem last year was termed a deplorable mistake by Premier David Ben Gurion recently and who was later completely exonerated and given a hero’s burial.
Beeri will stand trial shortly. The manslaughter charge was lodged against him today by Chief Examining Magistrate A. Malkhi in the Rehovot magistrate court following conclusion of a preliminary hearing.
