Un simple calcul de proportion indique que, si le Soleil avait la taille d'une orange de 10 centimètres de diamètre, Proxima Centauri se situerait à environ 2 810 kilomètres (calcul à partir de la valeur 4,24 al), et la Terre à 10 mètres de notre étoile.
