We have seen how following the break up of Timurid empire in the second half of 15th century, three powerful empires the Uzbeg, the Safavid and the Ottomon established themselves in the Trans oxiana, Iran and Turkey. The Uzbegs were the natural enemy of the Mughals, having been responsible for the expulsion of Babur and other Timurid princes from Samarqand and adjoining areas including Khurasan. At the same time the Uzbegs clashed with the rising power of Safavids who claimed Khurasan. The Khurasanian pleatue linked Iran with Central Asia and the trade route to China and India passed across it.
