La successiva storia dello strumento è rimarchevole: nel 1816 venne acquistato dal penitenziario di Weimar e su un'etichetta attaccata alla parte interna dell'organo, Johann August Stickel, il direttore del carcere, dell'epoca osservò: i detenuti presenti, 83, hanno contribuito ognuno con almeno 2 centesimi. Nel XX secolo l'organo appartenne al musicologo tedesco Traugott Fedtke, che lo dotò di un motore elettrico e di un carillon, tra le altre cose.
