Pelliot correctly notes that the form seen in most manuscripts, which puts an r after the first a, is erroneous. Clauson gives bağırlak, which is extremely close to Marco’s version of the word. The particular bird that the word is applied to is almost certainly Pallas’s Sandgrouse.»
