軍の名称としては南軍の北バージニア軍と酷似し混乱の元になるため、この戦いの後に廃止されている。ただし、同様に紛らわしい「テネシー軍」の呼称は、その後も両軍で使われ続けた。北部のそれはArmy of the Tennessee、南部のそれはArmy of Tennesseeであり、前者はテネシー川にちなんだ「テネシー川流域の軍」、後者はテネシー州にちなんだ「テネシー州の軍」である。
