BOOK I.CHAPTER XXV.の"be ye never so sore wounded" は、「どれほどひどく傷を受けても」という意味であると北村一真は解説する（『英文解体新書 2』p.236 研究社 2021年)。
BOOK II.CHAPTER XI.の "though ye have as many wounds upon you as ye may have."は「どんなにたくさん傷をうけても」という意味になる。

2011年にアメリカのStarz局で放送が開始された『Camelot』では、滝の最上部の石に刺さった剣をアーサーが抜くが、それはエクスカリバーとは別物という設定になっている。後日、魔術師マーリンがエクスカリバーを入手してアーサーに届ける際、「湖の乙女に授かった」と報告するが、その乙女とは実は、マーリン自身が魔法を制御できずに溺死させてしまった、鍛冶屋の娘のことである。
