スカアハが住む場所は写本によって異なる。例えば、６〜９世紀ごろに書かれたと考えられる「エメルへの求婚」最古のバージョンと、11世紀の写本に残る「エメルへの求婚」ではアルヴァの東方と記されており(The Oldest Version of Tochmarc Emire, p. 445)(The Wooing of Emer by Cú Chulainn, paragraph 60)、スコットランドに残る16世紀の写本『ディーン・オブ・リズモアの書（英語版）』ではスカイ島のダンスキー城(Maclauchlan, p. 51)、また18世紀の写本に残る物語「The Training of Cúchulainn」ではスカイ島であることが記されている(Stokes, Preamble)。
