This substance seems to be the curative agent, and for purpose of simplicity I would propose to call it provisionally beri-beri vitamine: Funk (1912) p. 347; I suppose that the present résumé has convinced the reader of the physiological importance of vitamines. It is quite possible that their importance is much more considerable than is indicated in this paper: Funk (1912) p. 366.
