In support of the Government's plan to establish Thailand as a regional aviation hub and to provide better and seamless connectivity to its guests, Thai AirAsia X (XJ) will be relocating all of its flight operations to Don Mueang Airport (DMK) starting 1 October 2024.
The relocation follows successful coordination with, and is being facilitated by Airports of Thailand Plc. and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. Thai AirAsia X currently operates from Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Effective 1 October, Thai AirAsia X guests flying to Seoul, South Korea; Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Sapporo in Japan; Shanghai, China and Sydney, Australia will be departing from Don Mueang Airport.

These destinations include daily flights to Penang starting July 24 and roundtrip daily flights to Kuching, Sarawak, commencing mid-September.
Beside's flying to Kuching, China Eastern Airlines would also be flying to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in the same month.

The published schedule will see a departure from Kota Kinabalu at 21:30 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to arrive in Shanghai at 02:00 the following day. The return service, AK1517, will leave Shanghai at 03:00 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and return to its base at 07:40.
In conjunction with the auspicious Lunar New Year, AirAsia celebrated its inaugural flight from Kota Kinabalu to Shanghai with a 100 percent passenger load, continuing to soar high in the prosperous Year of the Dragon.
Xiamen Airlines, a full service airline in China, will reinstate its direct flight to Kota Kinabalu with effect from June 27, said Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.
“I have another piece of good news for the hospitality and tourism industry. Shanghai Airlines will launch their scheduled flight from Shanghai direct to Tawau with effect from June 28,” Liew said.
Shanghai Airlines becomes the second China-based airline to resume direct flights into Kota Kinabalu, following the successful operations of China Southern Airlines in April.
The flight AK1516 departed from Kota Kinabalu International Airport at 9.30pm on Tuesday (Feb 20), and landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 2am the following day.
There is no time difference between Malaysia and China.
Its returning flight AK1517 from Shanghai to here, which recorded over 90% passenger load, was greeted with a celebratory water salute upon arrival.

State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew said Batik Air will be launching its charter flights to Tawau from three cities in China.
She added that three weekly flights from China’s Pudong will commence in April and from Chengdu in July, while similar direct flights from Shenzhen are scheduled to commence in June.
