Recorded within the space of four months at Digitron Studio, (legend has it that as the group hadn’t the money to book studio time, they “stole” some booked by other acts), Naughtius Maximus’ debut album was released on July 1, 1995, by Articulate Sound Sdn Bhd. [...] the 13-song set featured three songs by Whyness, two tracks from Deceased, Reffugeez and Under Pressure each, and four songs by the collective. Musically, it is without a doubt Malaysia’s first-ever genuine hip hop album, complete with the requisite beats, rhymes, attitude and spirit. If there was anything lacking, it was production quality".
With only one album released in 1995, and whole lotta buzz, they managed to squeeze a number of appearances on TV and radio on programmes such as Remaja, Muzik Muzik and the Metro Chart Show. There was plenty of print-coverage for Naughtius Maximus despite the ban from RTM (which ironically accused them, in a letter sent to Nottimax’s label Articulate Records, of being too “westernised”).
Walaupun sembilan daripada 13 lagu kumpulan rap, Naughtius Maximus digam oleh Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) dengan alasan terlalu kebaratan, mereka tetap menaruh harapan agar album sulung yang dipasarkan sejak 1 Julai lalu mendapat tempat di hati peminat.
Widely recognized as Malaysia's first-ever real hip-hop album, with tracks from some of the most influential local trailblazers at the time — crews like Whyness, Reffugeez, Under Pressure, and Deceased — Naughtius Maximus changed the game forever just by existing.[pautan mati kekal]
