Samsung likely didn't have time to work on One UI 7.1, One UI 7.1.1, and One UI 8.0 (based on Android 16) simultaneously. Hence, the company could have decided to skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 and directly release One UI 8.0 in the second half of this year.
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 will receive up to six major Android OS upgrades. Since both devices are being released with Android 16 and One UI 8.5 pre-installed, this promise covers them until Android 22.
The stable One UI 8.5 update will start rolling out today, May 6, 2026, to eligible Galaxy devices. The update will first arrive in South Korea, followed by Europe, Hong Kong, India, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.
