Davies, Athenian propertied families, 600–300 BC, Oxford, 1971, p. 457; C.W. Fornara - L.J. Samons II, Athens from Cleisthenes to Pericles, Berkeley, 1991, pp. 24-25.).

The Character of the Athenian Empire, in Historia 3 (1954), pp. 1-41). Fornara en Samons stellen dat: "Any view proposing that "popularity" or its opposite can be inferred simply from narrow ideological considerations is superficial." (C.W. Fornara - L.J. Samons II, Athens from Cleisthenes to Pericles, Berkeley, 1991, p. 77).
