Hannam: «The Foundation and Loss of the Royal and Serapeum Libraries of Alexandria» Hannam tar utgangspunkt i en bokrull 10 cm i diameter og 50 cm bred.
Plutark gjør i sammenhengen det klart at han videreformidler historier han selv ikke regner som sanne, i Hannams oversettelse: «Calvisius, however, was looked upon as the inventor of most of these stories», se Hannam: «The Foundation and Loss of the Royal and Serapeum Libraries of Alexandria».
