Mark Celinscak, Hell Before Their Very Eyes: American Soldiers Liberate Concentration Camps in Germany, April 1945. John C. McManus, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Volume 31, Issue 2, Fall 2017, Pages 322–324, https://doi.org/10.1093/hgs/dcx024. «McManus describes in minute detail a notorious incident that occurred on April 29, 1945 at the Dachau concentration camp. According to the author, men from the 157th Infantry Regiment rounded up a group of SS-men and brought them to a partially enclosed area that had been used for storing coal. American troops opened fire, in less than thirty seconds killing, McManus estimates, twenty to twenty-five unarmed men and wounding many more (p. 102). No one was ever tried for participation in the killings.»
