„Baron” nie oznacza tytułu szlacheckiego. Pochodzi od hebrajskiego imienia Baruch (anglicyzm). Jest współcześnie częścią dwuczłonowego nazwiska członków amerykańsko-brytyjskiej rodziny pochodzenia żydowskiego[2][3], zapisywanego jako „Baron Cohen” lub „Baron-Cohen”. W publikacjach na temat młodszego brata Simona – Asha(inne języki)[4] bywają używane obie wymienione formy (częściej bez łącznika). Podobnie bywa drukowane nazwisko ich kuzynów (Sacha[5] i Erran Baron Cohen(inne języki)[6]). Syn Simona Baron-Cohena jest znany jako Sam Baron[7]. Prawdopodobnie łącznik między oboma członami nazwiska pojawił się wskutek błędu, popełnionego w czasie druku pierwszego profesjonalnego artykułu Simona Barona Cohena. Autor pracy błędu nie sprostował[2].
Uta Frith[19][20] – badaczka poznawczych i neurobiologicznych podstaw autyzmu, dysleksji i innych zaburzeń rozwojowych. Studiowała w Niemczech, na jednym z niewielu uniwersytetów, w których prowadzono kierunek psychologia eksperymentalna. Swoje zainteresowania psychologią eksperymentalną rozwijała pod naukową opieką neuropsychologów brytyjskich, Beate Hermelin(inne języki) i Neila O'Connora, współautorów książki pt. Psychological Experiments with Autistic Children (1970)[21]. Z zespołem współpracowników podjęła prace częściowo inspirowane wynikami badań szympansów (D. Premack, G.
