Conus tulipa Linnaeus, 1758-(Mozambique).
Rareté: Devenu rare dans la Société. Particularité: L’espèce s’est nettement raréfiée dans la Société, elle est actuellement plus commune aux Tuamotu.
Conus tulipa is one of the lightweight bubble cones similar to Conus geographus, and like that species is a potentially highly venomous fish eater. This species is moderately uncommon, but is most often seen under rocks on the intertidal reef, such as that between the islands of Kwajalein and Little Bustard. We have also seen specimens in shallow surge channels on the leeward seaward reef to depths of about 5m.
