  • Armenian shows the strongest similarities to the group of Balkan languages, Phrygian, Albanian and in particular Greek. Some interesting features of this group are shared with Indo-Iranian. <…> However, while the lexical correspondences are certainly the most prominent, generally dismissing phonological and especially morphological correspondences seems unwarranted. In fact, a number of early phonological innovations in Armenian appear to be shared with Greek.
