While Luke's physical appearance is similar to that of the American Staffordshire Terrier, that breed, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC), is "a taller, heavier offshoot" of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier of England. Luke's smaller size as an adult is more consistent with the shorter, lighter specifications of that English breed.
