In January 1946, Queen Mary recorded her fastest ever crossing to Southampton in 3 days, 22 hours, 42 minutes, at an average speed of 31.9 knots. However, as she left from Halifax and was in war service at the time, this was not counted as a new record for the Blue Riband.[1]
