琉球的磔刑適用於謀反罪和大逆罪，在徐葆光《中山傳信錄》中被稱作「槍刺」。該刑罰執行方式為：將犯人剝去衣服，手腳以「大」字形的方式綁在「‡」字形的木樁上，用兩支槍分別沿右側腹—左肩、左側腹—右肩刺穿其身體。因其屍體遠觀像個「八」字，故被稱為「八付」。其與中國的磔刑不同，而與日本磔刑（日语：磔）相似。
