譬如說柴郡名譽郡在2009年地方政府改革前定義為由柴郡非都會郡、霍爾頓（英语：Halton），及窩寧頓兩個單一管理區所組成；柴郡非都會郡因改革而一分爲二成車士打郡東、柴郡西-切斯特（英语：Cheshire West and Chester）。因此《郡尉職權法令》之附表一亦隨而修訂為車士打郡東、柴郡西-切斯特、霍爾頓、窩寧頓所組合而成。
《1888年地方政府法令》附表三在表列郡自治市鎮時，同時列出「在此法令當中各郡自治市鎮被視爲位處之郡的名字」，其中四個郡自治市鎮（布里斯托尔、大雅茅斯、斯托克波特及約克）被視作同時位處於多於一個郡。儘管如此，法令並未對各郡尉轄區包含的行政郡、市鎮法人或郡自治市鎮做出任何改動（郡尉轄區範圍均在《1882年民兵法令》（英语：Militia Act 1882）中定明）——唯一改動為當行政郡或郡自治市鎮之邊界出現變更時，郡尉、司法、郡長轄區亦會隨之變更。^[46] 布里斯托尔在名譽郡劃分下歸入格洛斯特郡，而約克則歸入西瑞丁。由於兩市鎮均具有市鎮法人地位，故自成一司法郡。^[47]附表三在1888年法令中亦只牽涉行政職能，而非郡尉轄區。^[48]^[49]
1956年前，斯托克波特依司法郡及名譽郡劃分，梅西河及塔姆河（英语：River Tame, Greater Manchester）以南的部分隸屬於柴郡，以北則隸屬於蘭開夏。1956年其全境併入蘭開夏司法郡，但依名譽郡劃分則繼續橫跨兩郡直至1974年。
