The rime /õĩ/, as in 前 /tsõĩ˥/, found in Teochew proper and Swatow dialects, is merged with /ãi/ in Kekyeo and Southern Teochew. Otherwise, the rime /ãi/ is uncommon in Teochew, and occurs mostly in 愛 /ãĩ˨˩˨/ "to want" and some other words with the same radical.
The rime /uĩ/, as in 縣 /kũĩ˨˩/, found in Northern Teochew, corresponds to the Southern Teochew rime /uãi/. Otherwise, the rime /uãi/ is uncommon in Teochew, but occurs e.g. in 檨 /sũãĩ˨˩/ "mango".
